“I am just proud of my kids,” Kermit Head Coach Tyler Hodge said. “They came out in the second half and laid it all on the line.
Hodge attributes the win to Kermit’s defense.
“We couldn’t hardly do anything offensively, but our defense came up big tonight.”
Williamson led the Blue Devils 6-0 at the half, but quickly bounced back at the beginning of the third quarter with a fumble recovery by Kobe Davis, returned for a touchdown to tie the score, 6-6.
“We started out kinda sluggish early, but that was because Williamson came out and played great,” said Hodge. “They out hit and out played us in the first half. I told my boys at halftime, if we won the third quarter, we would win the football game.”
The score stayed even until overtime when the Blue Devils scored on a 20 yard drive consisting of runs from David Runyon and Kobe Davis to win the game, 12-6.
The Blue Devils ended their season with an 8-1 record.
