The Martin County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man after he was allegedly observed trying to enter two different homes at Pilgrim.
Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Evans arrested Charles Marcum of Job, Ky., after a call was received by 911 that someone was trying to force their way into two residences through the front door.
When sheriff’s department officers arrived, Marcum was in his vehicle in the driveway of one of the homes. According to the citation, Marcum was “very intoxicated and unable to perform any field sobriety test.” He was charged with second degree burglary, third degree criminal trespassing and public intoxication with a controlled substance.
Deputy Evans also arrested Johnny Mills of Inez on persistent as a felony offender in additional to several other criminal charges.
According to the citation, Evans observed Mills at a local gas station, and was aware of several indictments on Mills.
When the officer spoke to him, Mills’ appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Upon searching Mills, Evan found a 10 mg oxycodone tablet and marijuana.
At the booking room of the sheriff’s Department, was seen attempting to swallow more pills from a plastic bag and officers found a 30 mg oxycodone tablet, eleven 10 mg tablets, thirteen Soma tablets and 8 Xanax tablets in the plastic bag. Mills was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence and disorderly conduct. Mills was also under indictment for second and third offense DUI, failure to maintain insurance and registration, public intoxication, prescription drugs not in a proper container, giving an officer a false name and address and persistent felony offender.
Martin County Deputy B. Tipton arrested Travis Hammond of Inez after an alleged altercation with his grandfather. Herman Hammond, 73, told Deputy Tipton he had confronted Travis after he realized cash was missing from Herman’s vehicle. He said he struck Travis with his cane, and that his grandson then threw a basket of clothes at Herman, causing him to fall and cut his arm. Travis told the officer he had stolen from his grandfather in the past and wanted to go to jail. Tipton complied with that request.
