PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The four traffic signal poles and related structural items will be replaced on each signal along Ky. Route 1460, Bypass Road, in Pikeville beginning Monday, November 2. This includes the signals at Ferguson Creek, Don Combs Bridge, Chloe Road, and Summit Engineering, the Kentucky Department of Highways
According to Keith Coleman, traffic technician supervisor, Highway District 12, crews will move from one signal to the next in sequence, replacing poles and cross arms. “Some of these are still made of wood; they were installed 30 or so years ago and have not been upgraded since,” Coleman said.
Very little of the work should impact traffic. “We will not be working in the road very much at all, and will definitely not work in the road during school bus hours,” he said. “When we do have to switch out a signal from the old supports to the new, the delays will be fairly short, less than 20 minutes each.”
