MORGANTOWN (AP) — Monongalia County health officials say a Morgantown High School student has died after contracting swine flu.

Monongalia County Health Department spokeswoman Holly Hildreth said Wednesday the 17-year-old girl died Sunday at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Hildreth says the girl had contracted the H1N1 virus but the cause of death hasn’t been determined yet.

Hildreth declined to release the girl’s name. The Dominion Post reported that the victim’s mother identified her as Misty Cricks. Darlene Mullenax also said her daughter had cerebral palsy.

Five deaths in West Virginia have been attributed to swine flu.
