PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A late night burglary of a Pikeville, Ky., pharmacy saw over 10,000 prescription pills stolen from the premises.

Patrolman Bruce Collins and Deputy Doug Cottle of the Pikeville City Police Department responded to the burglar alarm at Economy Drug at approximately 2:39 a.m. Oct. 3. Collins and Cottle arrived at the scene on Town Mountain Road to find the pharmacy’s glass front door broken.

Collins stopped a vehicle spotted in the vicinity of a neighboring pharmacy a short distance from the scene and noticed two of the three occupants removing hoods and masks. Prescription bottles were also visible in the back seat.

The suspects, Joseph L. Hicks, 19, of Williams, Ky., Brittany L. Cassady, 22, of Inez, Ky., and Michael Sincel, 38, of Dana, Ky., had 30 prescription bottles filled with thousands of prescription drugs.

Collins along with Cottle and other assisting officers, Sgt. Aaron Thompson, patrolman Mike Riddle and patrolman Chad Branham arrested the suspects at the scene without incident.

The three are lodged in the Pike County Detention Center and are charged with the class C felony theft of a legend drug of over $500, the class D felonies of burglary in the third degree and criminal mischief in the first degree.
