He was born May 14, 1950 at Thacker, W.Va., to the late Ralph Cook Sr., and Naomi Matthew Cook.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Nira Dotson Cook.
Ralph was a former coal miner and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was survived by his sons Matthew (Janice) and Joseph Cook, both of Thac-ker, W.Va.; daughters Van-essa (John Paul) Belcher of Thacker, W.Va., Brenda Gail (Sterlin) Justice of Stopover, Ky., Crystal (Denton Wolford) Cook of Stopover, Ky., Francine (Kenny) Cook of William-son, W.Va., and Florence Cook of Thacker, W.Va.; sisters Darlene (David) Snell of Thacker, W.Va., Nadine (James) Snell of Thacker, W.Va., and Lorine (Homer) Thomas of Phelps, Ky.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m., Saturday; October 3, 2009 at Pentecostal Tabernacle at Edgarton, W.Va., with ministers Ronnie Wolford, Randy Wood, and Ricky Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Thacker, W.Va., with family and friends acting as pallbearers.
Family and friends may visit after 6 p.m., Thursday at the Pentecostal Taber-nacle in Edgarton, W.Va., with services nightly at 7 p.m.
