SOCIALIST HEALTH CARE PLAN

To the editor:

I realize everyone in an elected position has and will make decisions that some or most people disagree with. I, as well as many other voters, do not agree with the proposed SOCIALIST HEALTH CARE PLAN. You and the majority of your colleagues have been in Washington for more than 20 years. It now appears that Congress has done very little to improve health care. So why the hurry now?

I certainly agree that health care needs improvement. However, Congress should slow down and consult businesses, doctors, lawyers, and constituents. Please remember that Congress works for the people. Congress should examine its image. One would have concerns about the SOCIALIST HEALTH CARE PLAN when a Congresswoman at a town hall meeting is on her cell phone when questions are being asked of her by the people she represents. Another is when Senator Conyers (D) from Michigan states he supports the plan even though he has never read it; he goes on to say if he and two other lawyers read the bill together, he still would not understand it. Does this not raise a RED FLAG?

Senator, the Government has not been a good steward of the taxpayers dollar. Programs such as TARP/ bailout money, education, clunkers, veteran facilities and benefits are just a few programs that have not been successful. Social Security and medicare are projected to run out of money within the next thirty years. Even though costs have risen, our seniors will not see an increase in their Social Security checks until 2012.

How does the Government intend to get a nationalized data base for all its citizens when the Veterans Administration does not have one for all of its veteran enrollees?

As a citizen, I am concerned when Russia, China, Germany, France, United Kingdom, and other nations are telling our President we are going down the wrong economic path. I believe the President, his Cabinet, and the Democratic Congress are leading us into socialism. My advice is to tread carefully when changing the world’s best health care.

Countryman, this isn't an internet message board where you can hide behind a keyboard and remain anonymous. If you are going to call Mr. Conn ignorant and a liar, at least have the nerve to tell us who you are.

First, a socialist is one who advocates or practices socialism. Socialism is defined as "any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods."

Notice the word "collective?" Collectivism is a union's sole purpose. It's no secret to anybody that Obama and democrats have strong ties to unions all over this country.

And how many industries has the Obama government taken ownership of in his short time in office? The banking industry, the car industry, and soon the healthcare industry and mining industry if he has his way.

More government regulation means more government control, period.

By definition, Obama is a socialist. Score one for Mr. Conn.

Second, we do have the absolute best healthcare system on the planet. Do you see any Americans flying to Great Britain or Canada for healthcare? No, but you sure see a lot of Brits and Canadians flying here.

Also, it's well known that a lot of developed countries don't report correct infant mortality rates, greatly skewing the numbers in their favor. A lot of them even count premature infants who die after birth as "miscarriages." That's only one example among many.

Score two for Mr. Conn.

Third, healthcare is a service just like anything else. If you went to a restaurant and decided not to pay, what do you think would happen? If you don't pay, who should? Likewise, if you don't pay for the health service you recieve, then who should? Not me. Not Mr. Conn. You should. You want to take away the freedoms of doctors and other healthcare professionals because you feel like you can impose your morality on others and calling it a right. By forcing them to do something they otherwise wouldn't, you are taking away their rights and liberties. You don't seem to realize the irony in that.

Score three for Mr. Conn.

Were you born in 2000? If not, do you happen to remember Bill Clinton's wiretapping program, which was much bigger than Bush's ever was? Did you forget that, or did you even know that?

As for the bailouts, I work in the banking industry. Obama has completely flipped the original intent of the bill. I was never for it in the first place, but it was never intended to have the government control like it currently displays. Congress has changed the rules as time has passed.

So instead of spouting off before you have the time to think, act like a rational human being, gather your thoughts, and let's have a discussion. Name calling and incoherent rambling does nothing. We already here enough of that from Pelosi & Co.

Same old liberal hogwash, Countryman, bad old Fox News and Rush and Glenn and Sean are all liars. I notice though, you never give any examples to back anything up. Truth is, they have nailed it-Obama is trying to ram through a nightmare that the vast majority of the public do not want. Over 70% in a Rasmussen survey indicate they are happy with their health care; a 56-41% margin disapprove of Dr. Chicago's takeover of the health care system; only a meager 31% of seniors approve of HR 3200. Yeah, everybody is stupid and Countryman is the only smart one out there. Our health care system is the world's best; every liberal/socailist/communist with money comes here for treatment; the vast majority of the slaves are left to government rationing in a paradise like Cuba. And don't bother trying to impress me with a study with the word "World" anything in it, that is nothing but UN sponsored socialist garbage. I will bet my last dollar you don't go to Canada for your treatment, now do you? Health care cost increases are largely due to out of control lawsuits and defensive medicine, and no tort reform will ever happen, because the lobby of lawyers owns Obama and the democrat party. Bush? So what. Don't defend a liberal by citing a liberal. A liberal is a liberal, no matter what party they are wrong, and have no solutions. Bush erred greatly; those companies should have been allowed to fail. What has Obama done? Quadrupled the debt in 6 months that Bush left; projected 10 trillion dollar deficits over the next ten years; lost over 3 million jobs since it became apparent he would win the election. When medicare was passed in 1965, projections were that it would cost 9 Billion by 1990; instead, it cost 120 Billion; presently, it costs over 420 Billion. It is full of waste and fraud, but never fear, old Barry the bloodhound is going to sniff out all that waste and Obamacare is going to be responsible. Sure. Any you think conservatives are victims of an "echo chamber?" And how outrageous to ask one of these "representatives" to actually read what they force upon us! Take the town halls that Rahall and Rockefeller held. Both had their minds made up before they ever came out. They will vote with Nancy, Harry and Barry no matter if 60% of their state and district opposes HR 3200 and I would be willing to bet that figure is pretty close. Folks, get ready for the election in 2010. We have to hammer people like Rahall and Rockefeller at the polls next election for voting for this bill.

Pretty sad when one has to stoop to distortions in a feeble attempt to make a point. Not one of the several healthcare reform plans being proposed are "socialists", despite what the Hannitys/Becks/Limbaugh and Fixed Noise echo chambers of the world tell you.

That healthcare system you claim is "the world's best" is 50th in life expectancy,[ https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2102rank.html ] is 44th (best)in infant mortality,[ https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2091rank.html ] this according to our own CIA World Factbook.

Worlds best??? Hardly!

Worlds most expensive? Without a doubt!

Your harangue about government not being a "good steward" may have some validity, BUT the purpose of the reforms are to right the wrongs that have been and continue to be allowed in the name of profits. Healthcare should not be a priviledge.

Dropping people's coverage (when fighting breast cancer) because of an unreported case of acne!?!?

Refusing to cover people because of pre-existing conditions!?!?

Pricing themselves above what those in lower paying jobs can afford!?!?

The congresswoman at the town hall may have been calling the police, given the behavior of those on the right at these townhalls.

Oh, and please stop flaunting your ignorance of the facts by continually referring to REPRESENTATIVE John Conyers as a Senator! The 2 Senators from Michigan are Levin and Stabenow....geeeezzzzz!

The "reading" of bills is just another non-issue brought forth by the echo chambers of the republican party. It takes a lawyer to read the goobly gook that is most bills and any sane person knows that.

The VA health benefits plan is rated as the best in America. Medicare is a huge success and if you don't think so ask someone who has it if they are dissatisfied. I agree, TARP/BAILOUT, Bush's ideas, weren't properly administered in the beginning.

Our seniors won't see an increase because there's no inflation, which is what the COLA adjustment is tied to.

I wonder, did you believe we were being led to "socialism" when Bush bailed out the banks and auto industries? Did you believe we were on the way to socialism when Bush started spying on US citizens? Or are you just a party specific worrier?
