Born November 1, 1931, in Williamson, she was the daughter of the late William M. Adkins and Alice Lena West Adkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Footo; and a sister, Margaret Gib-son.
Jean was a member of the East Williamson Baptist Church and she was a member of the WMU .
In earlier years, Jean was employed as a cook with the Mingo County Board of Education.
Jean’s life revolved around her home and family. She enjoyed life and she enjoyed people. She loved her family very much. She was always there with a helping hand whenever she was needed. Jean will be sadly missed and lovingly remember always.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Quizenbeury of Maybeury; two step-daughters, Eulalia (Harry) Ross of Princeton, and Linda (Mike) Runyon of Georgia; two brothers, Wil-liam F. (Ann) Adkins of Williamson and Warner V. (Nancy) Adkins of Redford, Mich.; two sisters, Janice Sue Runyon, of Mento, Ohio, and Thelma M. (Donald) Thac-ker, of Canada, Ky.; special nieces, Freeda E. Gibson, Vivian J. “Joy” Phillips and great-niece, Chelsea Phillips; as well as several other nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Combined visitation and funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday evening, Sept. 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. The funeral service will be begin at 7:30 p.m., with the Rev. Bob Norman officiating.
A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Randy Rhodes will preside. Darrell Quizen-beury, Donald Thac-ker, Joseph Gibson, Clyde Blair and Bill Phillips will serve as pallbearers.
