The Gilbert Lions took the win Friday night. 36-13, over the Williamson Wolfpack.

In the first half of the game, the teams ran neck in neck, but the second the Lions over powered the Wolfpack to take the win.

Coach Gordan Carter was proud of his team, but still says they are in need of some conditioning.

"In the second half we did a lot better job," said Carter. "We're still racking up a lot of penalties and doing some things that is uncharacteristic of our football team and we will have to work on it."

"We give Williamson a lot of credit," said Carter. "They played with a lot of hear and a lot of determination, especially in the first half."

The Westside Renegades overpowered the Lions in their previous game two weeks ago. In the first half of the game the Lions and Renegades were neck and neck. However, two of the Lion’s offensive backfield players, Cameron Ellis and Josh Carter, received injuries.

In additionto Ellis and Carter, starting quarterback Ashton Cline suffered from a Charlie horse in his Quadracep muscle the remainder of the game.

The injuries set the Lions back, forcing them to play sophomores and freshmen who had never played these respective positions before in game action.

This week Carter and Cline returned to the field, but Ellis, tailback, is still out until further notice.

Coach Carter said he was unsure when Ellis would be able to play again.

Williamson Coach Doug Ward was not disheartened by his teams loose, saying, "The score 36-13 is not indicative of the game, it was a much closer game."

"If we can play with that kind of heart for the rest of the of the way out, we're gonna win them all."

Next week the Lions will be facing Iaeger at home. Coach Carter expects it to be a tough game, since this is the Cubs last year before being consolidated with Big Creek.

The Wolfpack will play an away game next week against Van.
