One of the main health concerns of area citizens as the fall season approaches is immunization for seasonal flu and, if eligible, for the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine.
Administrator Cathy Headen said the Mingo County Health Department is gearing up for a busy season of immunizations but has no type of flu vaccine available at this time.
She said the H1N1 vaccine allocation for Mingo County is expected some time in October and its availability and explanations of eligibility requirements will be announced at the appropriate time.
No date is available for the regular distribution of seasonal flu vaccine for which, Headen said, everybody is eligible to receive.
When Mingo County’s allocation of the so-called swine flu vaccine arrives at the health department, said the administrator, a schedule for immunizations will be announced along with any other instructions or restrictions pertaining to eligibility for the shots.
