The Family Pharmacy in South Williamson was the target of an attempted robbery Friday afternoon, but an armed pharmacists ran the would-be-thief off.
According to Kentucky State Trooper Chris Phillips, a white male wearing a mask entered the pharmacy at approximately noon demanding cash.
Jeff Collins of Big Splint was a customer at the store at the time. He said the would-be robber asked for cash, but not for any drugs.
“He just said, ‘I have some mace, and I want the money,’” Collins told the Daily News.
However, a store employee told the man she could not open the cash register.
The pharmacist working at the time then chased the would-be robber from the store with a gun.
“He ran out the door, and I ran after him,” Collins said. “He ran behind the building and took his mask off, and I saw his face. Then he got in his car and left.”
The vehicle was a brown and white Chevrolet with a Tennessee license plate, Collins said. The robber fled west on Ky. Route 292, he added.
Trooper Phillips said authorities had no leads other than witness statements.
In addition to Phillips, the attempted robbery is being investigated by Trooper Derrek Sturgill.
