David William Tincher, 59, of Williamson, was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, August 26, 2009. A true "Jesus-Man," David set out each day to share his love of Christ with others and to leave a word of hope and encouragement with those he encountered. He joyfully shared his faith.

Born October 4, 1949, in Matewan, W.Va., he was the son of the late Dill Willard Tincher and Bonnie Lockard Tincher.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a dear brother-in-law, Lloyd Harlow.

David was married to the former JoAnne Rumore Tincher. He was "the best dad ever" to his beloved children, Courtney Lane Tincher, Joshua David Tincher and Whitney Paige Tincher, all of Williamson. He was also the grandfather of two grandsons whom he loved with all of his heart, Caleb Daniel and Corey Michael Rogers.

David was a 1967 graduate of Williamson High School and a graduate of Marshall University.

He was a retired police officer with the Williamson Police Department having faithfully served the citizens of Williamson for twenty years. David was a qualified marksman and was participating with other police officers for annual re-qualification when he became ill on Wednesday evening.

After retirement, David became involved as an assistant coach with the Williamson High School and Williamson Middle School football, basketball and tennis teams. He was a sports enthusiast and he loved working with the teams. The school children were very important to David. He wanted the students to succeed in their chosen sport and more importantly, he wanted them to enjoy happy and successful lives. David’s absence from the sideline will be sorely felt as the Williamson High School football team opens the 2009-2010 season next week. No doubt about it, Coach Tincher will have the best seat in the sky box this season.

David was a member of the R. A. West Fundamental Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, David is survived by two loving sisters, Chris (Rudy) Slater of Williamson and Linda Harlow of Williamson; his mother-in-law, Evia Rumore; brothers-in-law, Joseph Rumore of Chattaroy, George (Brenda) Rumore of Springfield, Va., and Charles Rumore of Pinellas Park, Fla., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, August 29, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Williamson Memorial Field House in West Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at the Williamson Memorial Field House. The Revered Jay West will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Reed-Lockard Family Cemetery at Turkey Creek, Ky. Members of the Williamson City Police Department will serve as active pallbearers. Member of the Williamson High School Football team, Doug Ward and Larry "Giddle" Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson is serving the Tincher family.

Greetings from Bangkok, Thailand,I was so sorry to hear of David death. He was one of my neighbors and friends that I grew up with on East End. Always a smile on his face and joy to be around. I have not seen him for so many years (around the early 1970's) but he was the type of person you can not forget.

His father and mother were a loving mentor for all people of Mingo County (they not only talk the talk but they walk the walk) always walking in spiritual fruitage and I'm glad that David followed in their footsteps.

My deepest sympathy to his wife, children and family. God bless you and comfort you during this time of sorry. David is gone but he will never be forgotten.

Agape,

Thomas Sherrill

Dave Tincher was a fair person as a Williamson police officer and the world lost a good man this week. Even though he arrested me a few times, I never held it against him as he was doing his job and I was in the wrong for doing what I did anyway. Dave always took time to chat with me and ask about my sisters and how they were doing whenever we ran into each other. My sincere condolences to JoAnne and the children.

David was along time and family member. He will surely be missed. I'm sick to my stomach just thinking of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children. Bless you all...
