WILLIAMSON, WV - The Williamson High School Athletic Hall of Fame has elected seven Wolfpack graduates for enshrinement as the HOF induction class of 2009.

Kenneth Varney, Michael Bench, Tim Moore, M. Douglas Hodges, Brenda Jones, John Michael Phillips and Carl Tommy Rowe make up the WHS Hall of Fame Induction Class of 2009.

Hall of Fame President Cecil Hatfield announced that the seven would be inducted during the annual HOF’s annual induction ceremony on September 12, 2009. This year’s induction ceremony will once again be held in the historic Mountaineer Hotel Ball Room at with the HOF Banquet to begin at 2:00 p.m. with the inductions to follow immediately thereafter.

According to Hatfield, the entire weekend will be devoted to the Hall of Fame with activities on both Friday and Saturday.

Williamson High School Principal Johnny Branch and Athletic Director Joel Anderson had announced previously that the annual WHS Hall of Fame Game would be played that Friday night at Lefty Hamilton Park and would be part of the school’s Centennial Celebration as the school marks it’s 100th anniversary this school term. According to Branch and Anderson Twin Valley High School from Virginia will be the opponent of the Wolfpack on September 11th, 2009 at 7:30.

Hatfield announced that the Hall of Fame committee will be hosting a tailgate party prior to the game beginning at 6:00 in honor of Hall of Fame weekend.

Hatfield said that the Induction Ceremony will begin with a Social Hour at 1:00 P.M also at the Mountaineer.

Many former Hall of Famers will be in attendance for all events as usual according to Hatfield.

“All our former inductees add so much to the activities,”said Hatfield in his announcement. “We look forward to seeing those who return.”
