WILLIAMSON - It was a night of excitement, tradition and school spirit as over 400 fans gathered at Lefty Hamilton Park in West Williamson last night to show their support for the fall sports teams of Williamson High School, Williamson Middle School and the Williamson Area Midget League.

Sponsored by the Williamson Athletic Committee (W.A.C.), the tradtional event served this year s the “kick-off” event for Williamson High School’s Centennial Celebration.

Th evening opened with WHS Principal Johnny Branch introducing members of the school’s Centennial Celebration Committee and giving out prizes to members of WHS classes from the decades of the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Then W.A.C. President Jerry Hurley introduced all of the members of the WHS Football, Cheer, Volleyball and Golf teams, the WMS Football and Cheer teams and the Williamson Midget League football and cheer teams.

After that, the WHS, WMS and WML Cheerleaders each took turns leading the crowd in cheers and showing their school spirit.

WHS  Head Football Coach C. Douglas Ward addressed the crowd, telling them that “we’re working hard to get us back to the Wolfpack tradtion of winning” and told the crowd the team needed their support.

The WHS Cheer team ended the evening by leading the team in the WHS school song.

“This was a great event,” said Branch. “I am really pleased by the turnout.”
