A Kermit man was arrested for soliciting a minor via computer on Wednesday evening by the West Virginia State Police.

According to police, Steve Steinbrecher, 38, was instant messaging a 17-year-old girl on the Internet Web-site My-Space. Officials stated that he attempted to seduce and lure the victim fully aware of her age.

Steinbrecher, known as Philbilly on MySpace, lists his occupation to be a Mingo County School bus driver who hopes to be a full-time driver by the fall.

The Web-site explained that he has been driving a school bus since April 20, 2007 for Ron Brewer on the old road of Twelvepole in Dingess.

Steinbrecher talks about the pride he takes in his job, stating, “I do love being around people and love knowing that people trust me with their children on a regular basis.”

“I could never take that lightly,” he says.

He also states he is a Youth Minister for Jenny’s Creek Gospel Church.

Steinbrecher states on Myspace that he is very involved with Kermit Middle School, Tug Valley High School and Lenore Middle School and serves as a PA announcer for local high school and middle school athletics.

After being arrested, Steinbrecher was taken to Southwestern Regional Jail, there was no arraignment as of press time.

Arresting officer was Trooper Moore and Cpl. S.T. Harper assisted with the arrest.

It's astonishing that this 38-year-old man has the nerve to comment proudly on possessing the trust of the parents of the children he deals with when he also has the audacity to try to seduce a girl who is hardly old enough to drive. To make matters worse, he holds a position of trust among children in a house of God. If only people could control themselves.
