Whitt reported that a new addition to the Wood Products Industrial Park, Wright Concrete, has been advertising for employees.
“They have hired three or four people so far,” Whitt said. “I expect them to begin taking applications in the next few weeks.”
Whitt said Mohawk Flooring had reopened after having been closed six weeks to install equipment, a $2.5 million capital investment. The company is looking for weekend employees to work three 12-hour shifts per weekend.
The Mingo County Air Transportation Park will be ready for traffic by next year, Whitt told the Authority.
“Paving on the runway is scheduled to start August 1, taxiway and lighting jobs have been bid out,” he said. “Once those contracts are awarded, we will receive $4 million in funding from the FAA. We hope to be able to land a plane there late this year or early next year.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for the Air Park August 25. The Daily News will have complete coverage of the event.
