Leigh Ann Wells Ray has accepted her recent nomination to the Williamson Redevelopment Authority Board by the Williamson City Council.

Wells, a nine-year resident of Williamson, was nominated at the July 23 council meeting and chose to accept the position. Ray describes herself as an active member of the community and looks forward to making a difference.

“I am honored because this is very important to the the community,” said Ray. “I remember what Williamson was and I know what potential it has.”

Ray participated with the Williamson Blueprint Com-munity project in 2006 and 2007. She has attended training and community activities as a member of that group, so she will be able to apply that experience to her position as a board member.

Ray, current county grant coordinator and project manager, thinks her experience in the media and grant writing will also assist the town stating, “I serve as a grant writer for Mingo county and I will be able to help the Authority manage the grant funding they have already received and garner more, I have a lot of contacts and that could be very beneficial.”

Wells is married to Chuck Ray, an employee of Coal River Energy, and has two step sons.
