A Williamson woman was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital Tuesday afternoon after her husband allegedly shot her in the face.
Williamson Police Chief Roby Pope said his office received a call that Donald Christian, 61, of Mulberry Street, was intoxicated and threatening another man. Pope said he called the residence, and Christian’s wife, Nancy Hosley Christian, 47, answered and told Pope her husband had shot her in the face. It is believed the bullet went into her nasal area, police said.
Mingo County Sheriff Lonnie Hannah provided back-up when Pope went to the residence.
“When we got there, Sheriff Hannah and I could see that she was going into shock,” Pope said. “Mr. Christian came out of the house, unarmed, and was taken into custody.”
Mrs. Christian was taken by ambulance to Williamson Memorial Hospital, where she was transported by helicopter to Huntington. Her condition was unknown at press time.
Donald Christian appeared too intoxicated to be arraigned by Magistrate Eugene Crum, and was taken directly to Southwestern Regional Jail. He is being charged with malicious wounding.
Assisting at the scene were Mingo County deputies Joe Smith, James Muncy and Norman Mines.
