Ersell was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lynn Maynard; brothers Hurston, Joseph, General, John, and Isom Maynard,; sisters Ersie, his twin, Blanche Thompson, Laura Williamson, Dicie Adkins, Miriam Dodds, and Betty Adkins.
Ersell was a retired coal miner for Amherst Coal Company, he was an Elder at Beech Grove United Baptist Church, and he was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his loving wife Armilda Browning Stroud Maynard; four children, Kenny (Dottie) Stroud of Barboursville, Sid (Magaline) Stroud of Dingess, Georgia (William "Bill") Maynard of Dunlow, and Sharol (Dallas) Meeks of Harts; sister-in-law Orlantha Maynard; seven grandchildren, William Ersell (Lori) Maynard, Paul Mark (Patricia) Maynard, Michael Todd (Elizabeth) Maynard, Toney (Cassie) Stroud, Timothy (Yvonne) Stroud, Dwayne Stroud, and Jimmy (Ethel) Stroud; great-grandchildren; Nathaniel Stroud, Emily Stroud, Ashley Stroud, Michael Stroud, Ethan Maynard, Krista Maynard, Jacob Maynard, Morgan Maynard, Keira Maynard, and Kendra Maynard.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday July 15, 2009 at 1 p.m., at Mt. Moriah United Baptist Church at East Fork with Elders Sid Stroud, David Messer, & Brother Donnie Gene Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in Joe Maynard Cemetery on East Fork. Friends may call on Tuesday after 5 p.m., at the church where Special Services will be held at 7 p.m.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers with great-grandsons serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
