CHARLESTON (AP) — The West Virginia Division of Highways is considering a company’s proposal to add portions of two Logan County routes to the state’s road system for heavy coal trucks.

The DOH said Tuesday that a public meeting on the proposal is set for Aug. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Logan Elementary.

KWV Operations, LLC proposes adding portions of Logan County Route 12 and Logan County 12/2 to the Coal Resource Transportation Road System.

The Legislature created the system in 2003 with a law that raised the legal limit on specific roads in 15 counties to 120,000 pounds. Coal haulers can apply for special permits to carry the heavier loads on those roads.
