BELFRY, KY - Belfry High School will be the site of a unique training camp for middle and high school football players this week.

The camp will be “Speed Training for Football” Camp. The camp will be held Sunday through Tuesday utilizing Belfry High School’s athletic facilities.

The camp instructors will be former Belfry and University of Kentucky star David Jones and former Ohio State University Assistant Football Coach Butch Reynolds.

David Cook, an instructor in the camp, says this will be different than other camps local athletes might attend,

“This camp is going to emphasize speed training for all positions of football.” said Cooke. “Sunday will be directly focused on speed training regimens themselves and Monday will be on speed training for offensive positions and Tuesday is speed training for playing defensive positions.”

The camp is free to all participants with no fees at all. All participants will receive free camp t-shirts as well.

Jones, a former Belfry High standout and former UK defensive starter, recently signed and went through rookie camp with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.

Former Olympic Silver Medalist Reynolds is the former World record holder in the 200 meter dash. He most recently served as Ohio State’s football speed coach.

Registration is Sunday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for grades 9 through 12 and Monday, 9:00 a.m for grades 5 -8.
