SOUTH CHARLES-TON. (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service is providing some relief to West Virginia taxpayers who suffered losses from severe storms in May.

The IRS says deadlines for filing returns, paying taxes and some other actions that are due between May 3 and July 2 have been postponed until July 2.

Penalties for failing to make employment and excise deposits due between May 3 and May 18 will be waived if the deposits were made by May 18.

Edward H. Smith with the Federal Emergency Management Agency says individuals and businesses in areas covered by the May 15 federal disaster declaration should contact the IRS if they have any questions.
