He was born Oct, 18, 1947, at Myrtle.
He was the son of the late Lewis and Alice Hunt Maynard. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harmon and Hen-ry Maynard.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Freedom United Baptist Church of Lenore, W.Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ella Jean Davis Maynard; sons, Stephen (Kim) Maynard of Powhatan, Va., Michael (Crystal) Maynard of Wil-liamson, and Joseph (Ste-phanie) Maynard of Beauty, Ky.; daughter Monica (Brian) Cox of Richmond, Va.; brothers, Ken (Lynn) Maynard and Elva (Brid-gette) Maynard both of Defiance, Ohio, John Lewis Maynard and Richard (Pat) Maynard both of Delbarton; Raymond (Rose) Maynard of Fort Gay; Brookie Hall and Bertha Estepp both of Trace Creek, and Mertie (Buddy) Smith and Nancy (Johnny) Gore both of Midlothium, Va.; and niine grandchildren, Nicholas Cox, Devin, Kaley Jo, Talyn, Jenna, Alli and Jaycee Maynard, Haley Blackwell and John Stockner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, June 22, at the Freedom United Baptist Church at Laurel Creek, Lenore, with Elders Alton Hannah, Eddie Hatfield and Jamie Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be at the church after 6 p.m., Sunday evening with Special services starting at 7 p.m.
