CPL S.T. Harper with West Virginia State Police (WVSP) stated Dolly G. Martin (mother), Rhonda L. Pope (sister) and Carol Marcum (family friend) came to confront Robert Martin and his wife Paige over an eviction notice that had been served approximately a month earlier.
The criminal complaint from Mingo County Magistrate Court stated that the trio pushed their way into the residence and began verbally taunting the couple until the altercation escalated and became physical.
The mother allegedly grabbed her daughter-in-law and attempted to hit her, causing the son to intervene, the complaint says. He was struck on the shoulder by his mother, causing his shirt to tear. Pope allegedly grabbed both victims and began pulling on them, while screaming and causing a disturbance. Marcum assisted the two by sitting on the daughter-in-law while they continued assaulting her, the complaint said.
The domestic dispute continued until police arrived on the scene.
Dolly Martin was charged with daytime burglary, disorderly conduct, violation of an EPO, domestic assault and domestic battery. She was arraigned in front of Magistrate Pam Newsome, who set Martin’s bond at $8,100.
Pope (sister) was also charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, domestic assault and domestic battery. Marcum was charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, assault and battery. Pope and Marcum were also arraigned in front of Magistrate Newsome and received a bond of $7,100.
