He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Freedom United Baptist Church of Lenore, W.Va. He was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ella Jean Davis Maynard; sons, Stephen (Kim) Maynard of Powhatan, Va., Michael (Crystal) Maynard of Williamson, W.Va., and Joseph (Stephanie) May-nard of Beauty, Ky.; daughter Monica (Brian) Cox of Richmond, Va.; brothers, Ken (Lynn) Maynard and Elva (Bridgette) Maynard both of Defiance, Ohio, John Lewis Maynard and Richard (Pat) Maynard both of Delbarton, W.Va., Raymond (Rose) Maynard of Fort Gay, W.Va.; sisters, Brookie Hall and Bertha Estepp both of Trace Creek, W.Va., and Mertie (Buddy) Smith and Nancy (Johnny) Gore both of Midlothium, Va., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will held at the Freedom United Baptist Church at Lenore, W.Va., Monday June 22, 2009 at 11 a.m., with Elders Alton Hannah, Eddie Hat-field and Jamie Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va.
Visitation will be at the Church after 6 p.m., Sunday evening with Special services starting at 7 p.m.
