FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The House Appropriations and Revenue Committee has approved gambling legislation that would allow video slots at Kentucky horse tracks.

The measure was approved Thursday and now goes to the House floor for consideration. A vote could come as soon as Friday.

Gov. Steve Beshear called lawmakers back to Frankfort on Monday to deal with a variety of issues, including a projected $1 billion revenue shortfall. But so far, a proposal to legalize slots at the tracks has overshadowed other matters.

No action has been taken yet to resolve the shortfall.
