MONTGOMERY. (AP) — West Virginia University students will pay 4 percent more in tuition and fees, starting this fall.

The Board of Governors on Friday approved what Interim Provost Jane Martin called "modest increases" to support pay raises, improve libraries, fund a new child care center and counter health insurance increases.

Student representative Jason Parsons was one of two members to oppose the increases, which amount to $102 per semester for resident undergraduates and $316 for nonresidents.

Most graduate student fees will also increase by 4 percent — $113 for residents and $325 for nonresidents.

Students at Potomac State will pay 6 percent more this fall, while increases of 4 percent for residents and 6 percent for nonresidents were approved at WVU Tech.
