To the Editor:

I am in hopes that you will publish this under “Letters to the Editor.”

My name is Patricia Baldwin Hall and I am a sister to Leona Baldwin, who writes a column called “Side Roads” for your paper.

I know many people love Leona”s articles and are touched by them. I am deeply saddened by the flooding that has taken place there and how long it takes people to get help, if they get any help.

I “m writing to say that everyone is in my thoughts and prayers and I want everyone to keep Leona in their prayers. The flood waters got on the first floor of her apartment and demolished everything - appliances, furniture, TV and food in the fridge, and also food in her pantry.

The pantry was used to help feed other people and Leona was always taking food to someone. Now the pantry is bare.

Leona is 75 years of age and this is a very difficult and trying time for her. You all read her articles, but you probably don”t know how much she is always giving of herself, what a commitment she has to family, church, and friends.

Leona has lived the most selfless, giving life of anyone I know. On her meager income, she has managed to share more than anyone I know. She loves to write her articles and she loves to hear from the readers. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

One crucial thing I have learned from Leona, is to never lose faith. There is a higher power than us all and if we believe, we will get through the darkness and the sun will shine again.

If any of you were not affected by the flood and you would like to send Leona a card, send it to: Leona Baldwin, P.O. Box 6, Huddy, Ky.

I know everyone is in her prayers. May God bless all of you; keep you well and safe, and give you the strength you need to start rebuilding.

Patricia Baldwin Hall
