CHARLESTON (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for most of West Virginia due to forecasts of heavy rains.

A flood watch was in effect until midnight Wednesday for Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe and Summers counties and for 34 other counties through Thursday night.

The weather service says recent heavy rains have saturated the ground and localized downpours are expected.
