Phyllis Ann Kirk, 68 of Sidney, Ky. passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

She was born April 3, 1941 at Ball Fork, Ky. the daughter of the late Monroe and Mary Jane Ball Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse W. Kirk, brother, David Smith and son-in-law, John Taylor. She was a retired R.N. from the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Ky.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Leonard Roger Young of Sidney, Ky., one daughter, Wendi Suzanne Taylor of Sidney, Ky., step children, Leonard Young of Morehead, Ky., Stephanie Blankenship of Huddy, Ky., Roger Thomas Young of Williamson WV and Tracey Darrell Young of Hurley, WV., two brothers, Darrell Smith of Sidney, Ky. and Michael Smith of Sidney, Ky., six sisters, Lou Ellen Smith of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Ann Landsaw of Campton, Ky., Roseanne Taylor of Sidney, Ky., Terrie Kaye Blair of Meta, Ky., Tammy Diane Smith of Louisa, Ky. and Patricia Warren of Myrtle Beach, SC. and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11 AM at the Turkey Creek Regular Baptist Church with Elbert Sesco, Richard Staton and Hobert Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday and Monday at the Turkey Creek Regular Baptist Church. Special services Sunday night at 7 PM with Elbert Sesco, Richard Staton and Hobert Hamilton and 7 PM Monday night with William Akers officiating. R.E.
