WILLIAMSON, W.Va. - According to reports recieved early this morning, the WVSSAC Sectional Girls Softball Tournament will get underway this afternoon at the Williamson Softball Park in West Williamson.

The move to the new site and the approval to play were given yesterday after joint discussions between the WVSSAC, the Mingo Couty Schools Superintendent’s office and the Mingo County High School Principals. The change in venue from Matewan to Williamson was necessitated by minor flood damage to the Matewan Little League Park where the MHS softball team plays. Matewan wil continue to serve as host school for the tourney.

Also, it was reported to the Daily News that Tug Valley High’s baseball team was given approval to continue play today at Chapmanville.

Further information on the baaseball secitionals is still forthcoming.
