A three-vehicle accident on U.S. 119 at the Route 292 intersection held traffic up for more than an hour and sent three people to the hospital yesterday evening.

A man driving a white, GMC tool truck was driving southbound on U.S. 119 toward the South Williamson area and hit a white Mercury car driven by another man, who witnesses said was elderly. After hitting the white car, the truck collided head-on with a red Tamry, which was in the turn lane of U.S. 119, headed toward Route 292, investigating Kentucky State Police Tpr. Chris Phillips. The white car was knocked into the easement of the southbound lane on U.S. 119, with the front end of the vehicle pointing north. When the truck collided with the Tamry, it appeared the car was knocked a hundred feet and landed with the front pointing in the opposite direction, while the truck flipped onto its side.

As to who ran a red light at the intersection, Phillips said he couldn’t tell.

Phillips did not have the names of the three drivers, who were all transported to South Williamson Appala-chian Regional Hospital for evaluations.

Despite the crushed metal, broken glass and debris scattered across all four lanes, Tpr. Phillips said.none of the drivers appeared to be seriously injured.

Emergency response officials sent motorists on a detour across the bridge and through the streets of the Williamson to exit by CVS Pharmacy back to U.S. 119.
