LEXINGTON, KY. - The Tug Valley area is going to be well represented in the National Football League as former Belfry High School and University of Kentucky football player David Jones has agreed to sign as a free-agent with the Baltimore Ravens.

Jones, a native of Red Jacket, West Virginia here in Mingo County, was undrafted in this past weekend’s NFL Draft.

But on Tuesday, University of Kentucky Football Media Relations Director Tony Neely confirmed to the Williamson Daily News that Jones had indeed been contacted by the Ravens and had agreed to a free agent contract with them.

A spokesperson for the Baltimore Ravens, when contacted by the Williamson Daily News said that they could not release the names of undrafted college free-agents until next week when they report to training camp and officially sign their contracts and would make a formal announcement of signings at that time.

Jones will be made available for comment by UK later this week.

Jones played four years as a defensive back for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, playing in all ll games his freshman year before having his playing time cut in his sophomore an junior years due to injury.

For his college career, he played in 34 SEC games, garnering 43 career tackles and playing at both defensive back and wide receiver.
