ISABAN – An Isaban couple was arrested Thursday and charged with felony child neglect creating risk of injury.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jason Eugene and 26-year-old April Dawn Lester are currently held in Southwestern Regional Jail on $75,000 bond each set by Mingo County Magistrate Dee Sidebottom.

West Virginia State Trooper C.D. Kuhn stated in the criminal complaint the Lesters slept while their two-year-old child left the residence for “at least two hours” before the officer arrived on scene and awoke the pair.

The child was found playing next to a creek along U.S. 52.

The charge the Lesters face is defined as “any person who grossly neglects a child and by the gross neglect creates a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or of death to the child.”
