Those traveling on U.S. 23, to or from Hillbilly Days in Pikeville, were held up around 2 p.m., in the Banner area, as a blazer had flipped and landed in the middle of the northbound lane. heading toward Allen, Ky. Traffic was held up in both directions, however, while emergency crews attempted to control the busy road on a sunny Saturday. Ambulances, at least two, left the area with an undetermined amount of patients, while the Allen Fire Department controlled traffic and Kentucky State Police assessed the accident. It appeared the vehicle may have pulled from Daniels Creek, across from the Banner entrance from U.S. 23 and somehow flipped onto its top.

The heavy traffic prohibited officials from taking time to give a report on how many were injured and the cause of the accident.
