WILLIAMSON – Professional and personnel matters including employment, transfers, leaves of absence, retirement and other actions were reviewed by the Mingo County Board of Education at its regular meeting Tuesday.
The personnel lists, preapproved by the state Board of Education, contained some resassignments of teachers for the 2009-2010 school year, and receommendations for rehiring of probationary personnel for the next school term.
Some contracts of employment for professional and service probationary personnel will not be renewed, effective at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.
Assistant School Superintendent and Title I Director Randy Keathley reported that vacancies in various teaching positions will be posted soon.
The list shows that three well-known school system educators have plans to retire in June.
#Deborah Harris, director of Curriculum for Mingo County schools, is retiring effective June 30, 2009.
Margaret Fletcher, principal of Burch Elementary School at Delbarton, is retiring June 9, 2009.
A Gilbert High School teacher, LaDonna Auvil, is retiring effective March 23, 2009.

Under the Regular program, the following transfers were approved:

The employments are effective April 8 for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year.
#Steven Fullen was employed as Homebound teacher effective March 3.
Employed as substitute teachers as of March 16, pending CIB and FBI clearance with continued employment contingent upon issuance of appropriate certification credential were: Melinda Rebecca Dotson, Michelle Lester, Rhonda Newsome and April Pinson. Sharon Millirones and Ashlie Pigman were employed as substitute teachers under the same conditions, effective April 8.

#Under the Regular program, Ira Timothy Wellman was employed as mechanic assistant for Mingo County schools, effective March 16, 2009.
Under the Extra-Curricular program, James R. Tuley resigned as bus operator for the After-School Run to Tug Valley High School, effective March 12. Three persons identified as Joan Crawford, Jackie Hundley and Lucille Kirk were employed as First Aid/CPR instructors at the rate of $10 per hou, based upon the number of hours determined by the director of transportation, for a maximum of four training sessions during the school year, effective March 23, 2009.
