KERMIT – The Kermit Library has been sprucing things up, thanks to a grant by the town’s branch of the B, B & T bank.
Librarian Bobbie Marcum received a grant from the bank and the money helped fix a nice outdoor patio and reading area.
The money was used to buy benches and patio style tables and chairs.
The quaint little library is used by young and old alike. They hold a weekly book club on Wednesday’s at 12 noon.
Marcum and her husband George teamed to paint colorful murals on the wall of the new patio area and also the concrete floor was cleaned and painted.
The bank’s Lighthouse Project has helped other groups over the past few years with grants, including the Stepptown Senior Citizens, Inez Nursing Home, Kermit Community Center and Able Families.
Representing B, B & T and the presentation of the new patio reading area were bank employees Lorie Spaulding (branch manager), Mary Marcum and Robin Chaffin. Others who assisted, but were not present, from the bank were Patty Dillon (project leader) and Bruce Morgan.
Marcum says everyone is enjoying the new addition to the Kermit Library. She also wanted to thank Ermal Chaffins and Birdie Marcum, who were volunteers that worked hard on putting the tables together.
