Belfry Middle School competes in state track meet

Belfry Middle School fared well in the state track meet this past weekend in Louisville.
Here are the medal winners for BMS.
Austin Hall for 100 meter, placed 8th with a time of 11.98 and for long jump, he placed 3rd with a 17 ft. leap.
Austin Woolum placed 9th in the 400 meters with a time of 47.61.
Ray Horton placed 3rd in shot put with a 42 foot throw and 8th in discus with a 121 throw.
Gia Hatfield placed 9th in 100 hurdles for the girls.
Taylor Horton placed 12th in 200 meter with a 30.12.
The BMS 4 x 100 meter team for boys is Cameron Catron, Austin Hall, Taveon Hunter and Austin Woolum. They finished 7th with a time of 48.86. The entire top eight got recognized with medals, according to boy’s coach David Jones.
The boys’ team finished 15th overall in the state out of 115 teams. The girls are coached by Amanda Thornsbury. The long distance runners were coached by Mark Cook and Adam Warren.
The 1600 meter runner was Ryan Jessie. He finished 36th out of 67 runners. Cameron Varney placed 25th out of 60 runners for the 200 meter race. The BMS 3200 relay was Grayson Cook, Ryan Jessie, Ben Bentley and Jordan Foster. They placed 16th out of 53 teams. Hunter placed 21st in the 110 hurdles out of 50 runners.
The coaching staff was pleased with the participants and how they performed at the state meet. They hope to build the track program at Belfry Middle.
