John Blankenship gets big race win in Arkansas

Williamson, West Virginia racing star John Blankenship recorded the biggest win of his racing career on Saturday night, May 18 at the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas, as he banked $20,000 for coming out on top of the 2nd Annual ‘Bad Boy 98.
After timing in seventh quickest in Group B during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and running second in his heat race on Friday night, John started from the outside of the third row in Saturday’s 98-lap main event. He quickly moved up to third and started chasing down the leaders.
Following a long battle with Dennis Erb, Jr. for the point, John inherited the lead on lap 68 when Erb retired with mechanical troubles. From there, John dominated the conclusion of the extra-distance event and reached the checkers well ahead of Brady Smith, Steve Francis, Billy Moyer, and Jimmy Owens.
The $20,000 triumph allowed John to gain valuable points on the leaders and he currently sits third in the latest version of the LOLMDS Championship chase. Complete results from the ‘Bad Boy 98’ weekend can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.lucasdirt.com.
