The Mingo County Commission, along with Judge Michael Thornsbury and others, joined the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services to release balloons to mark the beginning of Child Abuse Prevention Month. A single red balloon was included to honor a child who died in January as the result of abuse. The pink and blue balloons represented all the girls and boys lost to abuse and/or neglect.
