Lonnie Jason Hamby, Jr., 59, of Matewan, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Born July 14, 1949, at Red Jacket, he was the son of the late Marie Meade Hamby and Lonnie Jason Hamby, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly Gooslin.

Lonnie was a custodian, having worked at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Conkins Hamby of Matewan; sons Damon (Lisa) Hamby of McCarr, Ky. and Lonnie Jason Hamby III of Peter Fork, Ky.; step-son D.J. Dilon of Taylorville; brothers Bill (Mary Ellen) Hamby of Marion, Ohio, Larry Hamby of Matewan, Ralph (Sue) Hamby of Newtown and Jimmy Dale Hamby of Sherrill’s Ford, N.C.; sisters Lois Justice of Matewan and Louise Akers of Marion, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Fred Taylor of the Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Buskirk Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the chapel from 6 to 9 p.m.
