GILBERT — In an effort to help better the area, one local organization is offering assistance in education.

The Strong Through Our Plan (STOP) Coalition will offer free GED tutoring classes to the public beginning Monday, April 1.

The classes will be held twice a week at the STOP offices in Gilbert, next to the Gilbert post office, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays.

“Our goal is to increase access to needed services in our communities,” Lara Fox, STOP’s Executive Director, said. “Education is not only a step in substance abuse recovery, but a cornerstone for anyone to be successful.”

The GED tutoring classes are made possible by a technology grant from Chad Pennington’s 1st and 10 Foundation.

For more information, call the STOP offices at (304) 664-3986.
