An outstanding arrest warrant led West Virginia State Police to arrest a Gilbert woman and take her to jail and arrest her again.

The arrest warrant was issued after an incident on Jan. 7, when officers were dispatched to investigate an automobile theft in the community of Mount Gay.

The victim told the officers the defendant, Candace Ferrell, 26, of Gilbert, along with another person, had stolen her vehicle the night before.

On that same date, the stolen vehicle was discovered at Gaylock’s Towing. Logan 911 advised the vehicle had been towed there earlier in the day for a separate investigation and the other officer said the defendant was in the vehicle at the time it was towed.

Ferrell was charged with grand larceny and conspiracy.

The second criminal complaint stated that Ferrell was transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail after she was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

When they arrived at the jail, Ferrell was searched. The officer found two packages of a solid white substance, which appeared to be crack cocaine, in the defendant’s boots.

Ferrell was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and transporting contraband into jail.

Bond was set at $10,000.
