WILLIAMSON - Do you think you may be one of the thousands of West Virginians who have unclaimed money or property through the WV State Treasurer’s office? If so, then you will be happy to know that representatives from that office will be at the Williamson City Hall on Friday to make it more convenient for you to claim what is yours.
According to information provided by Williamson City Clerk Frances Frye, Councilman Matt Thornsbury contacted John Purdue, the WV State Treasurer, and requested that representatives from his office schedule Williamson on their list of locations where they plan to conduct public meetings, in an effort to accommodate local citizens who otherwise would have to drive to Charleston to complete the process.
This Thursday, Feb. 28, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., you may speak with the Treasurer’s office representatives to see if your name is listed on the unclaimed money site, and if you are, you will receive assistance on completing the proper forms necessary to claim your property.
You are encouraged to bring a photo I.D. with you, along with your social security number and proof of address. If you have questions regarding the unclaimed property listings, you may visit the state website at www.wvtreasury.com, or call their office at 304-558-5000.
