Pike Central 52, Phelps 37

GOODY, Ky. – The Pike County Central Hawks beat Phelps in first round action of the 60^th District boy’s tournament on Monday night at the BHS gym.

The Hawks placed three players in double figures including Mac Justice with 12, while Ethan Blackburn and Tyler Burnette each scored 10 points.

Zack Avina led the Hornets of coach Bobby Varney with 22 points.

Pike Central will take on Belfry tonight at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader for the district championship.

Belfry Lady Pirates 61, Phelps Lady Hornets 25

GOODY, Ky. – The Belfry Lady Pirates advanced in the 60^th District tournament being played at the BHS gym by rolling past Phelps 61-25.’

Jackie Stack led Belfry with 23 points. Hannah Bailey and Angela Cantrell each scored eight points for coach Kevin Deskins. Candace Gilman added seven points and Emily Baker six for BHS.

Baker and Cantrell both pulled down eight rebounds. Baker also dished out 10 assists.

The Lady Pirates were 24-50 from the field for 48 percent, including 5-11 from behind the arc. They were only 8-21 at the free throw line for 38 percent.

The Lady Hornets of coach J. R. VanHoose were led by Caitlyn Norman with 20 points.

Belfry will take on Pike Central tonight at 6 p.m. for the district championship.
