NAUGATUCK – The Lady Panthers of Tug Valley mauled the Wayne Lady Pioneers 53-25 Monday night to improve to 11-8 on the season.
Tug Valley was led in scoring by Amber Linville with 13 points and Hannah Armstrong with 12. Armstrong also pulled down 11 rebounds, while Linville grabbed six.
Adreana Vance scored nine points, dished out four assists and had four steals. Whitney Evans-Kirk added eight points and three assists.
Taylor Bartram led Wayne with 10 points and six board.
“We played pretty good defense tonight; the best we have played in a while. We also passed the ball better tonight than we have since about the midway point of the season,” said coach Okey Smith. “We told the girls before the game that it was time to start playing our kind of basketball and I thought we came pretty close to playing the way we want them to play tonight.”
“Amber and Hannah’s size gave them problems and we took advantage of that. Whitney and Adreana played very good floor games and passed the ball really well inside to the post. Cassie and Katie gave us good minutes at the two guard position and Emily gave us good minutes to rest the post players,” Smith added.
Tug Valley is now (11-8) on the season. They played Cross Lanes Christian Tuesday night.
