NEWTOWN – Mingo Central got to within one game of .500 with a 49 to 39 Cardinal Conference victory over visiting Herbert Hoover on Tuesday night.
The Lady Miners are now 6-7 on the season.
Senior guard Chrissy Farmer scored 16 points and dished out five assists. Sophomore center Ashley Curry scored 13 points, pulled down 16 rebounds and had seven blocked shots for MCHS. Kiearia Hammond had nine points and eight rebounds. Hannah Church added six for coach David Hanshaw.
Mingo Central is now 6-7 and will play Tug Valley tonight at TVHS. The game JV is at 6:00 p.m. with varsity starting around 7:30 p.m.

GOODY, Ky. – The Lady Pirates of Belfry won a 60th District matchup with Phelps 48 to 27 at home on Tuesday night.
Emily Baker scored 19 points to lead Belfry, while Jackie Stack followed with 14 for coach Kevin Deskins.
Donessa Maynard led Phelps with 17 for coach J. R. VanHoose.
Belfry is now 6-11 on the season and 2-1 in the district. They will host Pike County Central tonight and Pikeville on Friday night.
Phelps is now 6-13 and 0-3 in the district. They will Riverside Christian Friday night. They were slated to play Pike County Central on Wednesday night in another district matchup.
