NASHVILLE – A singer – songwriter with local roots is hoping to make it big in country music and is now in Nashville plying her trade.

Katlyn Lowe recently moved to Nashville and has had the opportunity to open for country music recording artist Sunny Sweeney. She was invited to play during CMA Fest 2012 at the Just Kickin Saloon in Nashville.

Lowe’s grandparents are originally from Williamson and graduated from WHS back in 1955. Ken and Martha (Caudill) Prichard, who now live in Mt. Sterling, Ky., are proud of their granddaughter.

She still has relatives in the Williamson area including her aunt Karen Dotson of Chattaroy and uncle Kyle Lovern of Williamson, along with cousins Erin Lovern Bevins and Matt Lovern, also of Williamson.

Her parents are Chuck and Shelly Lowe of Jacksonville, Florida. Lowe has visited the Tug Valley in the past when she was younger.

In the spring of 2011 Katlyn released her first original single entitled “Maybe Someday.” The song quickly caught the attention of her hometown of Jacksonville.

Katlyn had her song played on QIK Jacksonville’s country radio station and was also interviewed by them. “Maybe Someday” has also been featured on Nashville’s country radio station’s WKDF and WSM.

In the fall of 2011 Katlyn released her second single “I Tell Myself.” The song was written by Katlyn and showed a more vulnerable side to her.

Katlyn was contacted by the local radio station for more material and “I Tell Myself” had its first radio debut shortly after its release.

She has been nominated for Nashville Universe’s Female Vocalist of the Year, Song and Video of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year. Katlyn’s music comes from a variety of pop/rock and country influences.
