Eva Pauline Bianco Phillips, 89, of Blackberry City, departed this life on the 70th wedding anniversary to her beloved late husband Kenneth E. Phillips on January 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at the South Williamson, Ky., Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born June 16, 1923, in Hi-Hat, Ky., to the late Domenico and Alta Martin Bianco Johnson.
In addition to her loving husband Kenneth E. Phillips, she is preceded in death by her brothers John Bianco, William F. Bianco, and Walter E. Bianco; sisters Annette Gillespie and Mary Applin.
Pauline was a lady of distinct style and sophistication. Her demeanor and personality was a reflection of her beauty she always had a bright smile and kind word to everyone she came in contact with. “Stranger” was not a word in Pauline’s dictionary. Among her many accomplishments including her beautiful family which was her priority, Pauline, was a longtime member of the Matewan Methodist Church, A member of the Matewan’s Women’s Club, and retired from the Mingo County School System having worked as an instructional Aide a job in which she upheld her title never missing an opportunity to instruct and direct her students to reach their fullest potential. The positive impact of her life has left a legacy of distinction, sophistication, and love that will never be forgotten in her community of family and friends.
Surviors include her son, William Kenneth (Joy) Phillips of Williamson; daughters, Sharon (Tom) Maynard of Blackberry City, Marsha (Richard) Montgomery of Greensboro, N.C. and Pamela (David) Moore of Blackberry City; grandchildren, Matthew Maynard, Jennifer Maynard, Philip Moore, Stephen Hickok, Christen Montgomery, and Chelsea Phillips Spence; great-grandchildren, James Richard Mullins, Bianca Moore, and Morris Lee Hickok.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday January 27, , at 1 p.m., in the Chambers Funeral Services’ Chapel with Pastor Ron Acord officiating. Burial will follow the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher. The family will begin receiving friends on Saturday January 26, at the chapel from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
