NEWTOWN – Mingo Central whipped visiting Wayne 59 to 37 on Saturday night at the MCHS gym.

“I’m pleased with our effort. We didn’t shoot real well. We’ve been struggling with our outside shooting,” head coach Brad Napier said. “We have three big games this week starting with Tug Valley. I hope we start to shoot better.”

“Defensively I thought we played good against Wayne,” he added. “For the most part, I thought we played a good game. We just have to keep working hard and bring the effort every game.”

Alex “Booger” Lee led the Miners with 16 points. He also pulled down seven rebounds. Austin Banks added 10 points and had six assists. Chase Hatfield had a season high nine points. Marqus Cunningham banked in eight points and had eight rebounds.

The Miners led 31 to 16 at the half and outscored Wayne 28 to 20 in the final two quarters to pull away.
